Founded in 1959, the Moroccan company SMESI, which means Company of Special and Industrial Studies, a limited company, is the first Moroccan company which is able to make studies of basic and detailed engineering, as well as the maintenance and building work of industrial facilities.

It goes with the strategic development of the OCP Group (the first world exporter of phosphate in every forms) through the achievement of engineering studies, setting of turn-key units in the field of mines, ore processing, handling and chemical industry. From 1987 on, SMESI has diversified its activities through the integration of MAROTEC (which means Moroccan Company of Technical Achievements and Engineering), company specialized in studies of industrial projects achievement and UIM (which means Industrial Union of Assembly, specialized in the industrial assembly). Today it includes all fields of basic and detailed engineering as well as construction and plant maintenance.

Thanks to its 46-year experience in design and construction of huge industrial facilities, and also thanks to the control of a wide range of technologies and with the positioning of its operational bases on the three great factory sites of the OCP in Morocco, SMESI is able to deal with all aspects of industrial projects at the best cost, from the basic engineering to the turn-key achievement.

Thus, SMESI keeps on improving its technicalities and skills.

In 2005, our company was ranked 220 among the 500 Moroccan leader companies.
We currently get involved in a quality approach according to the international standard ISO 9001.

SMESI also develops partnerships with customers and suppliers on a national and international scale.

We also  follow the evolution of  new tools for design and calculation in the different  fields  of engineering, i.e. Process, Instrumentation, Piping, Mechanics, Frame, Boilermaking, Electricity and Civil engineering.

SMESI currently employs 121 people including 26 engineers and 95 managers and technicians.
